Arguments Against Measure G

Imagine a shadow government supported by its own private army of well-funded attorneys, lobbyists, consultants, bond brokers, and land developers. That’s what you get when a City Council establishes a Redevelopment Agency.

Imagine an un-elected shadow government that will make decisions that affect every Gardena resident.

Imagine a shadow government that will incur millions of dollars of debt and float bonds without a vote of the people.

Imagine a shadow government that will use the power of eminent domain to take away your homes and businesses to benefit private interests.

Imagine a shadow government that will give millions of your tax dollars directly to developers and other private businesses.

Imagine a shadow government that provides no public services. It does not keep police officers on our streets. It does not put out fires or respond to emergencies. It does not educate our children. It does not provide our libraries with books. It does not keep our parks clean and green.

Imagine giving more power to a City Council when Gardena is over $25 million in debt without any plan to get out of debt.

Imagine giving financial oversight to a City Council that has spent $214,000 of your tax dollars for high priced consultants for a Redevelopment Agency that doesn’t even exist.

Imagine giving your City Council a blank check to set its own salary for serving on the oversight board of the Redevelopment Agency.

Imagine Gardena going deeper into debt to get out of debt.
